Sweet Honey: Etsy Chick

Anyone who knows me KNOWS I love Etsy. I encourage everyone to visit the online handcrafted goods site, that even allows you to show off your own goods for free, with small sellers fees.
Anyway, since I live a pretty serious life, with kids, chores, work, bills, etc. I need a little bit of fun and kitsch in my home to help me not to take anything in life so seriously.
When I ran across these dishwasher magnets on Etsy by Inkjet:

I thought not only were they clever and practial, they were also cute.
Something that would serve a purpose and that I would get a kick out of...what could be more perfect!

Sweet Honey: Not your Average Maxi

No, I am not talking about the dreaded...
I am talking about the wanted.
The maxi DRESS...and this one from Missoni is, in my opinion, one of the best ones this season.

The great patterns, the bright colors, the fitted top and generous bottom, and you can get a great little cover up by Missoni if you don't want that arm dingle dangle showing.

Sweet Honey: iPod Nano

I have never actually had a real iPod Product. I have an awesome mp3 player, but it is not iPod. Well, when I got a free 100 downloads from iTunes, I thought, it would be great to have an iPod Nano. I am a music freak, but I also am REALLY picky about my songs. The likelihood that I will have 2500 songs EVER anytime is unrealistic...so 500 is pretty good for me.
Well, I visited one of the popular electronic stores and tried to decide which iPod Nano I was going to buy. I settled on the teal color...and I priced it at $69 for the 2GB drive, and got the card of the salesman to come back to make my purchase next week (pay week yes, yes!).
So anyway, I played with the little tiny thing...it is really small, for a while, and I loved it.
I immediately thought of the songs I would be downloading to listen to during my pre-spring walks...now that it is nice enough outside to take a brisk walk without getting frostbitten by the Michigan air.

My tracks of the moment in no particular order:
The Old Schools
1. Clocks-Coldplay
2. Scream-Janet and Michael Jackson
3. Pleasure Principle-Janet Jackson
4. Angel-Anita Baker
5. Kiss of Life-Sade
6. Lover-Prince
7. Schoolhouse Rock-I'm Just a Bill (YEAH, you read it right!)
The New Schools
1. They Know-Shawty Lo
2. Party Life-Jay-Z
3. Pretty Boy-Danity Kane (exclusive...shhhh)
4. I'm Me-Lil Wayne
5. Lesson Learned-Alicia Keys w/ John Mayer
6. Killa-Cherish
7. Feedback-Janet Jackson
8. No Air-Jordan Sparks and Chris Brown
9. The Way that I Love You-Ashanti
10. Freakem Dress-Beyonce
11. I Wonder-Kanye West
12. Honey-Erykah Badu
13. Got Me Going-Day 6 (I am a Reality TV Show Addict)
14. In the Morning-Ledisi
15. My Love-Jill Scott

Sweet Honey: Pretty Plastics

Okay, I love a novel and unique idea...especially when it works.
So when I found melissa shoes...I was skeptical at first, but then I thought
about them:
melissa shoes are made in australia, and they are plastic shoes made from Melflex, a plastic "product" of sorts, made to mold to the foot.

Well, check this out:

This has to be my favorite design, along with this cute flat:

Since the flat is on sale, I am going to purchase it and see how much I like it. I will let you know my results, but for now, shop at melissa here.

Sweet Honey: Runway Fantastic

Christian Siriano won Project Runway last night...and who was surprised.
With his well-fitted, attention to detail, and drama filled clothing...it was no surpise that Christian, with his signature peacock meets shag hairstyle, had the judges, including Victoria Beckham, floored.

It was FIERCE!

...and now, according to Christian...he is going to take a little Va-Kay...you know, a breaky break!
Love HIM!

Sweet Honey: Pining for Paper

Yesterday HappyBee called me wanting some help finding a cupcake pinata.
Although my search came back with less than stellar results, I stumbled upon
a great website that caught my interest and helped me find some great cupcake
gift wrap for HappyBee's daughter's birthday gift.

This paper from Whimsy Press is just one of the great designs they have that will set your gift apart from the others and get folks excited about their new item.

They also feature note cards, this cute pom-pom ribbon shown on the above picture, and lots of great looking stationary items.

Being a fan of things that stand out and put my signature on them...Whimsy Press does just that!

Sweet Honey: Lite Brite

Spring Trends: Brights

Mix brights with natural and organic pieces or classic pieces for a pop of brightness, if you are not really into the whole neon thing. Take black and white and add a touch of pink with accessories. Anchor jeans with a bright colored top and some fabulous sandals or sneakers. Or, take it all the way, and have one bright color from head to toe...with great details.

Sweet Deals: The Wire

This Sunday, the BEST television show on the tube these days is coming to an end.
Started in 2002, chronicling the life of Baltimore Maryland police officers in their effors to take down Avon Barksdale, played so wonderfully by Wood Harris, one of my favorite young actors today. As the head of the Barksdale Organization, along with henchmen Stringer Bell, the so fine Idris Elba, they take control of the Baltimore streets and have the PD stumped.

The next few seasons show the inner city in a light before unseen on tv. The gritty truth of the drug dealers, public schools, working class, and "everyday" folks just living. Just as OZ gave insight into the prison system and Sex and the City turned being female and single on its head...this show has given the public a more realistic view of city life...along with great actors and actresses portraying real life and well acted stories...reading more like documentaries than sitcoms.

So watch this award winning show come to its end on Sunday, and if you are unfamiliar, go get The Wire on DVD. It will surely be one of your greatest purchases this year!
